Claude for lawyers: the model is right, the workspace is missing.

We think Claude's models are the best available for legal reasoning. That is why Legesa runs on them. The gap in consumer Claude is not the model, it is everything a matter needs around the model: memory of the case, citations into your own record, verification, and files.

Claude

Consumer Claude is a superb general-purpose AI and a strong writing partner, fine for non-confidential work, but every chat starts cold, with no lasting memory of your matter and no citations into your record.

Legesa

Legesa runs on the same Claude family and adds the workspace a case needs: a case brain that remembers each matter, answers cited to the page of your record, and drafts delivered as files.

Where consumer Claude wins

Claude is excellent, and for a lot of work it is all you need.

  • Excellent general-purpose reasoning and a genuinely strong writing partner.
  • Self-serve, low cost, and open in a browser the moment you want it.
  • Great for brainstorming, summarizing, and explaining an idea in plain language.
  • Fine for non-confidential work where no per-matter record or record citations are needed.

Where Legesa wins

Same model, built into a workspace for the matter.

  • The model you already trust

Legesa is built on Anthropic's Claude family, currently Claude Sonnet 5, because we think it reasons best on law. The reasoning is the same, the workspace around it is not.

  • A case brain that remembers the matter

The case brain holds the chronology, the parties, and the live issues for each matter, so a new session picks up exactly where the last one ended.

  • Citations to the page

Answers cite the exact page and paragraph of the documents you uploaded, and unverifiable statements carry an UNVERIFIED flag instead of borrowed confidence.

  • Law from official sources

Legal authority arrives with a link to the official source for your jurisdiction, from CourtListener and Cornell LII to BAILII and legislation.gov.uk.

  • Drafts delivered as files

Demand letters, motions, and damages tables come back as Word and Excel files assembled from the record, ready to edit.

  • Your file stays yours

Your matters are encrypted at rest and in transit, excluded from model training, and deletable at any time.

The decision

Which one fits the work in front of you.

Choose Claude if

  • Your work is general drafting, brainstorming, or plain-language explanation.
  • The material is not confidential, or you have handled consent and settings.
  • You want a capable, low-cost assistant you can open right now.
  • You do not need a per-matter record or citations into your own documents.

Choose Legesa if

  • You want Claude-grade reasoning built into a real legal workspace.
  • You need a case brain that remembers each matter across every session.
  • You want answers cited to the page of your own record, not just fluent prose.
  • You want drafts handed back as Word and Excel files, from your record.

Can lawyers use Claude for legal work?

Lawyers can and do use consumer Claude for general drafting, plain-language summaries, and thinking through an argument. The care needed is confidentiality and verification. Under ABA Model Rule 1.6 a lawyer should get informed client consent before putting client confidences into a tool that may retain or train on them, and every citation a general chatbot produces has to be checked against the real authority before it goes near a filing. Legesa is built for that workflow: it runs on the same Claude family, keeps your matter in a case brain, and cites answers to the page of your own record.

Does Claude remember my case between chats?

Not the way a matter needs. Consumer Claude can carry context inside a single conversation, and features like Projects help you group related chats, but there is no structured record of a case that persists on its own. Each new chat starts without the chronology, the parties, the issues, or your firm's drafting preferences, so you re-explain the matter every time. Legesa's case brain keeps chronology, parties, and issues per matter across every session, in dedicated tabs, so the case is always loaded.

What AI models does Legesa use?

Legesa runs on Anthropic's Claude family, currently Claude Sonnet 5. We chose Claude because we think its models are the strongest available for legal reasoning today, which is exactly why the underlying model is the same one you would reach in consumer Claude. The difference is the workspace Legesa builds around it: matter memory, citations pinned to your documents, links to official law sources, and drafts delivered as files.

Is Claude confidential enough for client documents?

It depends on the plan and the settings you are on, and the burden is on you to check them. Whether consumer inputs may be retained or used to improve models is governed by the account settings and terms in force at the time. That matters in litigation: in US v. Heppner (S.D.N.Y., February 2026), documents generated with consumer-grade AI tools were held outside attorney-client privilege and work-product protection where the tool's terms permitted human review or training on inputs. Legesa never trains on your client data, encrypts matters in transit and at rest, and lets you delete a matter at any time.

Is Legesa affiliated with Anthropic or Claude?

No. Legesa is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic. Legesa is built on Anthropic's Claude models through their API, the same way many software products are. This page compares consumer Claude with Legesa using public information as of July 2026, and those details may change.
